Rwanda - Clean Development Mechanism - Compact Fluorescent Lamp

The CDM CFL distribution project was conceived by the GoR through MININFRA, with ELECTROGAZ (the former electricity utility in Rwanda today REG) serving as the implementation agency, with the support of the World Bank Carbon Finance-Assist Program. The aim of the project, which took place from 2007 to 2010, was to reduce and/or mitigate electricity lighting consumption by replacing incandescent bulbs in the residential sector with 800,000 CFLs. The project targeted two groups:existing electricity utility customers and new customers brought in by the national electrification programme.
