Kampala Energy Week- September 2014

Once a year, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development dedicates a week to highlighting developments in the energy sector. The main objectives of the Energy Efficiency Week are to promote the efficient use of energy across all sectors and to address the challenges of energy efficiency in households, industries, institutions and commercial buildings.
Other objectives include provision of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with management capabilities to advance efficient energy and introduction of energy efficient practices and principles to the grassroots and the youth.
The Energy Week also aims to support the private sector by promoting energy efficient and renewable energy technologies such as compact fluorescent lamps, electronic ballasts, efficient motors, improved wood and charcoal cooking stoves, electric cookers, solar water heaters, solar powered devices, and other domestic appliances.
